Eley, Bill

Biography

Bill is a well-respected North West artist. He trained in Manchester, first at the Junior Art School and then at the Regional College of Art where he studied painting and illustration.

He went on to teach drawing, painting and illustration at all levels from vocational adult through pre-diploma and foundation to university level.

Bill has held solo exhibitions at Stockport Art Gallery, the Astley Cheetham Art Gallery, Stalybridge, the Portico Gallery. Manchester, the Haworth Art Gallery, Accrington, Buxton Art Gallery, Torr Top Gallery, New Mills and the New Mills Heritage Centre. He has also exhibited work in Manchester City Art Gallery, Bury Art Gallery and the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal.

A regular exhibitor in the Derbyshire Open, his awards include the Friends’ Trophy and the oil painting prize (four times). Bill has work in private and public collections in the UK, Canada, France, Sweden and Japan.
