Biography

David was born in 1959 in Parbold, Lancashire. He spent his childhood there prior to moving to Wigan. He began painting seriously when he was 19.

He has vividly captured his home town in a number of well-regarded oil paintings which show the heritage of both Parbold and Wigan.

David’s paintings have been featured four times in the summer exhibition at London’s prestigious Royal Academy. He has also exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy of Fine Art and one of David’s portrait paintings was exhibited at the Royal Society of portrait Painters.

David’s portfolio and vision of Northern Soul culture has won him world-wide acclaim.

Exhibitors of Barrows work include Royal Academy London, Salford Art Gallery, Mall Galleries London, Royal Society of portrait Painters, Newcastle City Art Gallery, O2 Arena London, Turn Pike Gallery and Salisbury Art Gallery,

Collections of his work include The University of Music, Michigan, USA, and the world-famous Tamla Motown Museum in Detroit.
