Biography
Kath Lowe has a BA (Hons) and Masters in Fine Art from MMU and is an award winning portrait painter. She is currently President of Manchester Academy of Fine Art.
Statement
‘I am a figurative Artist, and over the past 10 years have concentrated on Portraiture. I have always been interested in people, and the most fascinating aspect of people is their face.
Edouard Manet once said, ‘You would hardly believe how difficult it is to place a figure alone on a canvas, and to concentrate all the interest on this single and unique figure and still keep it living and real.’
This quote expresses the challenges that portraiture demands of the artist,
a challenge that keeps me forever interested in painting the portrait.
