Michael was born in Liverpool in 1956, and after school went on to study Graphic Design and Illustration at Wigan School of Art and Design, but after two years, he decided to leave and pursued a career in the Design and Advertising industry which lasted 25 years.
Since moving back to Liverpool he has been working tirelessly on improving his technique and approach to his work.
In 2015 he was a contestant on Sky Arts “Landscape Artist of the Year”, appearing in Episode 4 at Lyme Park Cheshire and made it to the last three in that heat.
Michael has also been involved in teaching watercolours and drawing for Netherton Arts Development in Sefton, and Kirkby Gallery.
At the moment Michael is working on an ongoing series of works involving the decay of inner city architecture.
Michael has exhibited at the Chapel Gallery, Atkinson Gallery, and Williamson Gallery.
