Robinson, Maggie

Maggie Robinson.

Maggie Robinson Is a contemporary landscape artist currently living and working in Sheffield.
Having grown up in the beautiful countryside of the North Yorkshire Moors in a large musical family, Maggie eventually moved south to go to University and spent the next 40 years away from her beloved North. She was, however, delighted to return to her roots with her husband Brian ten years ago and has since developed her ‘Music of the landscape’ series of paintings, for which she is now well recognised.
In seeking to have a personal identity in her work, she decided, as a former musician, to use her understanding of music as a means of interpreting the landscape. This means that she looks for the musical qualities of melody, harmony and rhythm in any given view which she explores through her choices of colour, line and marks in her work. Each painting has a musical title and an Opus number and she is now approaching Opus 370! They are all based on walks either in the Peak District, the North Yorkshire Moors and the Lake District National Parks.

Maggie has exhibited for many years with the Society of Women Artists and more recently with the Royal Society of British Artists, both in the Mall Galleries London.
Her website maggiesart.co.uk has all the information about the galleries who represent her and about the events and programmes that she is involved in, along with many more images of her current work.
