Staff at Gallery Oldham have been busy finishing off MAFA’s next exhibition Art of the Everyday which is due to open on 18 May 2021.
This week MAFA’s President Malcolm Taylor and Vice President Kath Lowe have been filming at Gallery Oldham. As part of the digital launch for this exhibition, which opens physically to visitors when government restrictions ease next week, we’ll be releasing a short film about the making of the exhibiton.
In the film, Kath Lowe tells viewers a little about the idea behind the theme of the exhibition and how some artists evolved their work when the Covid pandemic hit. Lockdown prevented some artists from visiting their studios and accessing materials. Other artists looked around for inspiration at home, whilst some took the opportunity to create artwork based on sketches carried out during their daily walks. Malcolm Taylor talks about his two new paintings in the exhibition and the history of MAFA.
