Sykes, Barbara

Biography

Barbara has a BA Hons. Degree in Fine Art and an MA in Printmaking and Art Theory. She has a studio near to her home and is a member of Dean Clough Artists, Halifax. Her work has been exhibited extensively and Barbara has won several awards and prizes; the most recent The Hugh Casson Drawing Award in the 2014 Royal Academy Summer Show.

Statement

‘My practice revolves around drawing. Charcoal graphite and acrylic are my medium and I work on paper or board. I have been influenced by many artists over the years but consistently by Kathe Kolwitz and Rodin.’

The images here are of the Heads from a large body of work which relate to the Human Condition.
