Statement

‘I use my many sketchbook studies and drawings as a starting point from which a fully abstract image often develops. I doesn’t have a fixed image in mind when I start but prefer to let the imagery evolve through the process of painting. I don’t concern myself with reproducing a likeness but in capturing the essential characteristics of a subject using a process of constant change until the tensions of the composition are right.’
