Sheila Dewsbury is a landscape painter whose work explores the underlying structure of the subject and how the play of light exposes form. Much of her source material is derived from the hills of the South Pennines where she lives, and from remote areas of Wales and Ireland.
Her work has been exhibited in public and private galleries throughout the northwest, and in London at the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Westminster Gallery, the Lyric Theatre and the Quaker Gallery. Paintings are in private collections in London, Eire, Holland, Spain, Australia, Canada and America. She is the author of the MAFA publication, ‘The Story So Far Manchester Academy of Fine Arts From 1859 to 2003.’
