Currently based in Leeds, Peter was originally from the Ribble Valley area of Lancashire. Following studies at Liverpool School of Art, he worked for many years in London on commercial commissions for advertising, publishing, print media, TV industries etc. From 2003 he also taught art – but has now returned to primarily personal fine art practice, although he still undertakes some workshops in colleges and demonstrations at art festivals.
Peter has exhibited in various open exhibitions at: The Mall Galleries, The National Portrait Gallery, The Ferens Gallery Hull, The Kings Place Gallery London. He has work in private collections in the U.K., U.S.A. and Germany, and in the permanent collection of the Ruth Borchard Collection.
‘My plein air, direct observation and studio work are mainly painted in oils but I occasional use other media. My work ranges from life drawing and figure studies to commissioned formal portraits, with more expressive and creative approaches used in the landscape and still life pieces.’
‘Although themes are traditional, and Peter’s work is clearly representational, his approach often includes a bold use of media where subject and materials are combined in striking compositions’
