An illustrated talk by Peter Davis, Archivist of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.

As part of the Manchester Art Gallery’s 200 Year celebrations, Peter Davis, archivist for the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts will be giving us a rare glimpse into the MAFA archives and we’ll hear about some of the fascinating things that have happened in the Manchester Academy’s 165 years’ history.
In his talk, “Stories from the MAFA archives”, he will tell us about past members including painters LS Lowry and Annie Swynnerton and sculptor John Cassidy; show some never-seen-before letters from Lowry and touch on some forgotten stories from these well-known artists. The talk will last approximately an hour, including a Q&A, and appeal to anyone who appreciates art and art history.
