MAFA offers a Friends Membership for people interested in following its activities and coming to private views, talks and dinners. MAFA remains committed to the original objectives practised for over 150 years ‘to promote fine art in the wider community through exhibitions and education within the region.’ By becoming a Friend you will help MAFA continue with these objectives and support the Graduate Award Scheme providing bursaries and professional encouragement to Manchester Metropolitan University School of Art graduates.
Upon joining the Friends you receive a welcome letter from the Academy’s President and Sheila Dewsbury’s book, ‘The Story So Far’, describing in detail the history of the Academy over its 150 years; its text drawn from personal accounts and archive material. You will also receive: Personal Invitations to Private Viewings, A Catalogue for each exhibition, Recognition for your support in our exhibition catalogues, Discounts on courses and events run by MAFA, Invitations to Gallery Talks by members, Invitations to Open Studios where MAFA members are involved, Academicians Workshops.
